Native furniture is a collaboration between design & industry; a merging of metaphor & making. Based in Melbourne, Australia, Native’s contemporary furniture, lighting and objects are conceived through a human approach to living and working, creating pieces of lasting functional, aesthetic and emotive relevance. As such, each piece of furniture is hewn from sustainably harvested solid timber and oiled by hand.

 

Inspiration comes from diverse cultures and landscapes. The expression of each piece is found within narratives that investigate identity and meaning in nature and our surroundings - within an increasingly homogeneous global context. Collection One references the roots of mangrove trees, merging icebergs, a tribute to migrant workers, and transportation of information in electric form.
